Born x Raised Winter Formal 2022 Sadie Hawkins

Proudly representing West Coast style, Born x Raised establishes a dress code at its annual Sadie Hawkins Winter Ceremony that discourages customers from rocking its streetwear offerings. Whether you’re an international celebrity like Verdy or a Venice Beach veteran, everyone dresses up for the invitation-only event. Bringing together the cultural forces of Los Angeles, as well as the brand family, Born x Raised celebrated its 8th edition at the Soho Warehouse on November 22, 2022.

In partnership with EZZE Live, Born x Raised founders 2Tone and Spanto have maintained the traditions of Sadie Hawkins while tripling her capacity. Designed for the people of Los Angeles, the stylish affair emphasizes the brand’s diverse community and its powerful ability to create a mixed celebration: musicians like Miguel, Freddie Gibbs, YG and Syd walk the red carpet before dressing skateboarders like Atiba Jefferson or actors like Danny Trejo. Young streetwear labels – Shane Gonzales of Midnight Studios, Reese Cooper, Victor Vegas of Awake NY – welcome artists like Nadia Lee Cohen, Cali DeWitt and Devin Troy Strother.

Sadie Hawkins’ fun and glitzy atmosphere makes it hard to spot tastemakers like Luka Sabbat and Kunichi Nomura because everyone is then dressed. “Sadie Hawkins is truly a place to be unabashedly yourself and tell a story with your form and personality,” adds Spanto, “there’s no place like that.” It’s a tribute to real memories like meeting her grandparents at a Sadie Hawkins ball and growing up in 90s Venice, but with socialite DJs like Spiñorita, Zack Bia (with a surprise set by Pedro Cavaliere) and Avalon Lurks.

Closing out the evening, rising DJ and musician Avalon Lurks can attest to Born x Raised’s lasting influence on Los Angeles. Among the brand’s defining qualities, Avalon notes its reputation as “a pillar of kinship for true locals and a way to identify with one another.” There’s endless gratitude to its founders for throwing the biggest party in town and tons of middle fingers in candid photos of Glen Han. “By supporting Born x Raised, you’re aligning yourself with a specific aspect of LA culture and a ‘don’t fuck me’ attitude,” Avalon adds.

While preserving classic LA culture, Born x Raised breathed new life into their historic photo background with an exclusive Nike collaboration. Released in a 100-pair branded guest edition, the Born x Raised x Nike Air Force 1 ’22 “Sadie Hawkins” comes complete with Old English engravings and an airbrushed box to match her likenesses. “star shot”. Growing with the brand, future editions of Sadie Hawkins may reveal more surprises and exclusives for both family and fans. “I hope Sadie Hawkins lasts another 50 years,” adds Spanto, “hopefully my grandchildren can attend.”

Underneath all the party-induced commotion, Spanto is more passionate than ever for Sadie Hawkins, “I’ve never seen so many people love each other in one room and it’s worth it.” After checking out everyone’s outfits from its iconic photo booth, mark your calendars for the party’s return before Thanksgiving of 2023.
