Since Gunn’s appointment as co-CEO of DC Studios, there have been a number of significant changes within the company. Henry Cavill quit Superman role earlier this month, while Patty Jenkins’ vision for a third wonder woman the film was turned down by Gunn and his co-CEO, Peter Safran.
This led to rumors that Gadot wouldn’t return as the hero, but Gunn offered his side of the story – although he didn’t confirm whether Gadot would continue playing Diana Prince.

In an Instagram post, Gunn referenced the backlash he and Safran had faced since news of the changes to DC broke, with one fan saying they had “booted” both Cavill and Gadot from their respective franchises.
Gunn, whose next film will be Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3responded by denying the idea that they fired her, saying, “I don’t know where you’re coming from that we ‘kicked’ Gal.” While that clarified one side of the debate, fans were quick to speculate that it could mean Gadot left the role of her own accord.
Jenkins, who directed both wonder woman and its sequel, recently denied leaving the third wonder woman movie saying, “I never left. I was open to considering whatever was asked of me.
