Former Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt has been sacked by ADO Den Haag after a poor start to the season.
The 42-year-old former Holland international was only appointed coach of the Dutch second division club last summer but leaves after just 176 days with the side 17th out of 20 in the table.
Kuyt picked up just four wins and faced frustrated fans on the training ground in September after the club’s worst start to the season.
Dirk Kuyt has been sacked as manager of Dutch club ADO Den Haag following poor results
Den Haag has struggled for form in the first months of the season and is 17th in the table
Dutch outlet AD have reported his dismissal with the Eerste Divisie currently on a World Cup break until December 11, giving ADO a chance to act.
They were expected to challenge for promotion to the Eredivisie this season under Kuyt after losing May’s promotion play-off on penalties to Excelsior after losing a three-goal lead in the second leg.
Kuyt, who scored 71 goals in 286 appearances for Liverpool between 2006 and 2012, was hoping for a successful start in management but instead endured a turbulent period.
In addition to poor results, technical director Daryl Janmaat resigned and key players Thomas Verheydt and Ricardo Kishna submitted transfer requests.
In September, police had to go to the training ground after receiving reports that supporters were planning to stage a protest.
It was Kuyt’s first managerial position, but it ended after just 176 days at the helm

It didn’t take long for the fans to turn on Kuyt with waved white handkerchiefs in their 2-2 draw with Jong AZ and the results didn’t go up much from there.
They have failed to win in their last five games and were beaten 1-0 at home by Roda in their last outing, leaving the team in fourth place with just 16 points from 16 games.
