EastEnders spoilers follow.
EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw has confirmed a groundbreaking new story for Linda Carter in 2023.
Linda was left facing an uncertain future after Mick’s tragic exit on tonight’s special Christmas episode.
While fans knew Danny was stepping down after nine years as Mick, Kellie had already confirmed she was sticking with the show.
Talk to digital spy and other media on what to expect Linda next year, Clenshaw said: “Linda is still in the heart of Albert Square and it’s so great to have Kellie.
“She’s not going to get over Mick very quickly. She just found him and then he was snatched from her, so it won’t be all smiles right away, but there are big plans for Linda.
“She’s going to start shooting something in January that’s coming out in February and it’s something that we as a show have never done before. Linda is at the center of that.”
Clenshaw also teased that there are “exciting” plans in store for The Queen Vic following Mick’s exit.
“There’s a question mark over The Vic’s future right now,” he said. “Kellie knows what’s going on and we know what’s going on with the Vic. It’s very exciting.”
Teasing Linda’s new story herself, Kellie said: “I kinda know what’s in store for Linda but I can’t tell anyone! I just found out myself and I’m thrilled, which is really Well. “
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show is also streaming on BBC iPlayer.
