EastEnders spoilers – is Mick Carter dead?

EastEnders spoilers follow.

Have you ever lifted your jaws off the ground? EastEnders just delivered a literal cliffhanger for Mick Carter’s highly anticipated outing, along with a celebratory return, reunion, surprise reveals, and so many secrets exposed we’ve lost count.

We always knew we’d be saying goodbye to pub owner Mick in this year’s festive episodes, but as always, we were left with more questions than answers.

Here’s all there is to ponder as Christmas Day draws to a close in Albert Square:

1. Is Mick dead?

Arguably, the biggest question on everyone’s lips right now: is Mick Actually dead?

Fans of course knew that Danny Dyer was bow out after nine years as Mick over the holiday season, but details of his exit had been kept under wraps until transmission.

That said, various teasers for the Christmas episodes had suggested he was headed for a grisly fate. And of course poor Mick found himself in a life or death situation tonight, after Janine’s car crashed into the sea – with Linda in tow.

Mick and Linda had quietly reunited in the previous hours, before jumping into the car together to chase Janine – who was determined to escape justice for all her evil deeds.

With the couple’s lives in danger, Mick battled his fear of water to get a pregnant Janine to safety on shore. Mick then returned to the sea to save Linda – unaware that she had managed to get out of the submerged car on her own and was fine.

Tragically, Mick was nowhere to be found in the show’s final moments, but is that really the end for him? Or can we expect a Neighborslike Harold Bishop in a few years?

Refusing to be shot, show boss Chris Clenshaw said: You will have to wait and see. It is EastEnders so anything can happen.”

2. Will Janine get her reward?

Mick’s dying wish was for Janine to pay for everything she had, but will that come true now in the wake of her tragic exit?

It seems so, as we already know that Charlie Brooks is also retiring from the show, with its final episode set to air on Boxing Day.

“All I can say is these episodes are going to be fantastic,” Charlie previously said. “There is a lot to look forward to.”

3. What now for Scarlett?

Poor Scarlett has always been the biggest victim of Janine’s narcissistic behavior and never has it been more evident than tonight.

Scarlett has been grappling with a guilty conscience since finding out that Janine was responsible for the near-fatal car accident Linda was led to believe she caused.

After realizing the importance of telling the truth, the young girl revealed her mother’s most sinister secret, but was then forced to step back and watch as Janine tried to pretend Scarlett was mentally ill.

Worse still, Janine then chose to completely abandon Scarlett in the middle of her big police run. But with Janine’s imminent release, what does the future hold for Scarlett?

That remains to be seen, but there’s more heartache for Scarlett next week when she bears the brunt of someone’s wrath.

4. Who will Kat choose?

Kat’s love life dilemma came together on Christmas Day, when she was forced to face the music for her recent actions.

Kat began to bond with her ex-husband Alfie in Phil’s absence, allowing him to stay at the Mitchell family home and even sharing a kiss with him in the square.

Kat was quick to dash any hopes of reuniting with Alfie afterwards, while Phil’s unexpected return brought her back to reality as well.

The tension was surprisingly high as the trio sat around the Christmas table together and it wasn’t long before Phil began to make disturbing surprises about what had happened during his absence.

Backed into a corner, Kat was forced to confess her betrayal, prompting Phil to smack Alfie in the kitchen. He then insisted that Kat decide who she wanted to be with, but who will she choose?

New Year’s Eve spoiler footage shows Kat and Phil happily celebrating together, which should give you a clue.

5. Will Jay and Lola get married?

Lola’s heartbreaking story provided a touching backdrop for further drama, as she woke up to what could be her last Christmas.

Jay made sure it would be someone they’d never forget when he got down on one knee in a (fake) snowy square and popped the question, but she was worried he’d propose by pity and left.

The heart-to-heart that followed was guaranteed to have everyone crying over their leftover turkey as Jay told her how much he loved her and begged her to accept his proposal.

She did, and bittersweet, snowy celebrations followed – but will Lola and Jay make it back down the aisle before the inevitable tragedy happens?

As always, the drama doesn’t end tonight. In fact, a handful of stars suggest the Boxing Day episode might even be better.

“I read Boxing Day and it’s amazing,” Danny Dyer said. “Kellie [Bright] It’s incredible. I read the following because I wanted to see how quickly people recovered from Mick. Boxing Day is very different and it’s an amazing episode. “

Kellie seemed to agree, saying, “Obviously we’re not the only ones in these episodes, so I think that does what you want a Christmas episode of EastEnders to do. There’s a bit of everything in there and it also goes through the week. I actually love Boxing Day as an episode as well.”

Moving away from Christmas, Phil and Keanu’s story will come to a head as the New Year approaches, with terrifying consequences for Kat and Tommy.

Meanwhile, tragedy awaits the Slater clan and Zack receives a life-changing offer.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show is also streaming on BBC iPlayer.
