Game of Thrones star dismisses fan reaction rumor

Jack Gleeson is most recognizable for his role as Joffrey Baratheon in game of thrones.

And Joffrey Baratheon is most recognizable for… being one of the most hated television characters of all time.

It turns out, however, that the rumors that Jack and Joffrey are hated synonymously turn out to be false, with the actor explaining that all of his interactions with fans have been positive.

The actor spoke at the game of thrones Convention on Friday, December 9, sharing (via EO) that unlike some other cast members, he never received a negative reaction from viewers of the show.

“Fortunately, I’ve never had any negative fan experiences or anything… There’s still a chance, if anyone wants to throw a punch,” he joked.

During the Q&A, he explained the benefits of the rumour: “A lot of people come to me because I guess this rumor started that people were being awful to me on the street or I’m getting mugged…when I don’t never had a single negative experience.

“I feel like people are really nice to me because they think people are attacking me, so maybe I should keep the rumor going.”

Gleeson also spoke about the negative aspects of his fame and its impact on his daily life.

“While I was spinning game of thronesi was also at university in dublin and even though since i was a child all i wanted to be was a celebrity, when i became famous i then realized…every time i go to a pub, all my friends just have to become photographers because people give them their phones and their night is ruined.

In summary, however, he confirmed that “every interaction was perfectly charming and perfectly pleasant”.

More recently, Gleeson stepped back from the limelight and married in a small ceremony earlier this year. Meanwhile, the highly successful game of thrones prequel series, Dragon Househas been confirmed for a second season.
