Massively multiplayer mode brawler Lost Ark started a Witcher crossover on its Korean servers in November, but it’s only now that Amazon Games has confirmed (opens in a new tab) when Geralt and his friends arrive on western servers: January 2023.
Geralt, Ciri, Yennefer, Triss, and Dandelion will all be coming to Lost Ark, with “voiceover work from the game’s original actors” according to a press release from Amazon Games. This also explains that their arrival will be part of an event that is only available for a limited time, which will also add an island called White Wolf’s Haven.
The island is apparently “a setting for joy and festivals until a mysterious vortex suddenly appears, interrupting the celebrations. As players investigate the source of the unexplained phenomenon, they encounter a visitor from an era and from a different place – Geralt of Rivia, the famous witcher. This starts a chain of events in which the player will have to deal with the mystery of this interdimensional vortex, encountering even more visitors from another dimension in the process of In this collision of worlds, players of Lost Ark will team up with characters from The Witcher to solve a puzzle that spans time and space.”
Along with the quests players can take on alongside PC Gamer’s favorite father figure, the event will of course add additional mode options to Lost Ark. character customization scars, maps, stronghold structures, emotes (and more) await adventurers who participate in the event,” explains Amazon.
While the versions of the characters that will appear as NPCs in Lost Ark pretty much resemble those in The Witcher 3, the Geralt and Ciri wearable skins to buy on PC are a little disconcerting. As you can see in one of the Korean trailers (opens in a new tab), although there are slight differences between the versions of each class, all Geralts look quite young, clean-shaven and handsome in the manner of an anime cute boy. Meanwhile, Ciri skins for non-human classes have pointy elven ears for the mage or are tiny and childish for the performer (a class currently only available in the Korean version that uses a magic brush to work magic based on ink, and is basically a hobbit).
I’ll probably end up buying some of the weapon skins and background art from Kaer Morhen (opens in a new tab) for the character screen, but I don’t expect much from the story in a promotional event. Meanwhile, Lost Ark also gets the Brelshaza Legion summoner class and raid in the late game (opens in a new tab) as part of a December update with the Caliligos Guardian Raid, T3 Hardmode Cube and Boss Rush, a new type of accessory for Bracers, and new Chaos Dungeons.
The Witcher has already crossed paths with more video games, including Monster Hunter World, Soulcalibur 6, and mobile game AFK Arena. Geralt was also spotted in a leaked trailer for Fortnite Chapter 4 (opens in a new tab). He is sure to move.
