A little girl has found her lost toy after it was taken in by a Good Samaritan who posted his “adventures” on Facebook.

The mum-of-one Rachel Holloway, 28, found the cuddly creature, known as Monkey, on Thursday.

She took him in, bathed him, and even fed him chocolate, while documenting his life of luxury.

She found the toy near a playground in Canterbury, Kent, and posted her adventures on Facebook in a bid to find its owner.

The sociology student uploaded adorable photos of the animal being fed Quality Street chocolates and drying off with a plush towel.

During his short stay, Monkey also watched cartoons with Mrs. Elephant, was fed cookies, and climbed trees.

The creature eventually found its original owner, Amalia, who had dropped it on the playground.

Rachel posted in a Facebook group: ‘It was a bit muddy and very wet from the rain but don’t worry the monkey had a nice hot bath and a cup of hot chocolate.

“I hope we can find his owner here so he can go home, but for now he is eating chocolate and watching cartoons with Mrs. Elephant.”

On the second day of her stay, she posted, “We haven’t found his owner yet, but don’t worry, he’s well cared for.”

“Monkey had a slumber party and crispy cookies for breakfast, played with Mrs. Elephant and swung through the trees before 9am.”

The post went viral and racked up over 3,000 likes and 2,000 shares.

People praised her for her creativity and thanked her for her “charming and thoughtful” updates.

Rachel says she was amazed by the reaction her joyful news received.

She said: “Monkey has been a great guest so far. He hangs out with Mrs. Elephant, watches cartoons and eats snacks.

“It was really nice to see people on Facebook coming together to try to bring the monkey home.”

“I think everyone appreciates the happiness of a child, and the monkey definitely brought everyone together in a way that I never expected.

“Canterbury is a small place so I thought after about 10 comments its owner would be found, it was a shock when it took off. But I’m glad it put a smile on so many faces.

Eventually, she announced that the owner of the creature had been found.

She said: ‘Ok guys, this is the moment you’ve all been waiting for – Monkey’s owner Amalia has been found.

‘Monkey packed a bag of goodies for the trip, kissed Mrs Elephant goodbye and is now on his way back to his favorite human.

“Thank you to everyone who took the time to share and help post, without your help this busy little monkey might not have made it home.”
