Harry & Meghan series beats The Crown in Netflix rankings

According to viewership figures, 2.4 million people logged on to Netflix to watch the documentary Harry and Meghan the day of its release (December 8).

This means the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s documentary has more than doubled the number of viewers who tuned in to watch other Netflix series. The crownwhich drew 1.1 million viewers when it premiered on Nov. 9 (via Subway).

Viewing figures released by independent ratings organization Barb show the documentary has the highest day one viewership since Barb started watching Netflix in October.

While it should be noted that Barb only considers the number of viewers watching TV, so the number is likely to be much higher when considering smartphone, laptop and tablet viewers.

On the day of its release, Barb confirmed that the second episode of the documentary series had been watched by 1.5 million people, while episode three had been watched by 800,000 viewers, all on its first day.

The documentary was tainted with negativity even before its releasebut if the viewership figures are to be believed, the first three episodes certainly got people hooked.

Meanwhile, Netflix has announced the release date for the next installment of Episodes along with a trailer.

“Harry and Meghan remember their first flash dance as husband and wife. Volume I: Now Streaming. Volume II: December 15th,” they shared via Twitter.

Harry and Meghan Episodes 1-3 are available on Netflix, with new episodes launching December 15.
