Pokemon Violet and Scarlet are packed with new Pokemon in the Paldea region for players to discover and catch. One of these new Pokémon is Charcadet, a small red knight-like Pokémon that can be quite powerful. Charcadet can evolve into Armarouge, a Fire/Psychic Pokémon, in Scarlet or Creuledge, a Fire/Ghost Pokémon, in Purple. Whichever version you play, you will need to obtain a special item to evolve Charcadet.
Where to find Charcadet
As for finding a Charcadet, the Pokedex entry lists its habitat as most of the southern half of Paldea. Personally, I found them easier to find in zone three of South Providence, which is located directly east of Mesagoza. They can be difficult to spot due to their small size, but the bright red color makes them a bit easier to spot. You can also consume food that stimulates the capture of fire-type Pokémon to help you with this endeavor.
To evolve Charcadet, you need to travel to Zapapico, which is located on the eastern half of Paldea in the central part. It is located west of the Lurking Steel Titan challenge area. Here you have to find a man in a plaid shirt who is looking to make a trade. In Scarlet you have to trade 10 bronze shards for Auspicious Armor and to Violet you have to exchange 10 Sinistea crisps for Malevolent Armor.
Both of these Pokemon can be found early in the game, albeit in very limited areas. These crafting items, typically used to craft TMs, drop whenever you defeat one in combat in the wild, so look for a group and use the auto-combat feature to take them out quickly. Once you have acquired 10 of the necessary items, trade the man for the armor. Armor works like other upgradable items, but is consumed once used. There is no level required to evolve Charcadet.
If you are looking to get the evolution of the other version of Charcadet, there are a few methods to do so. You can trade a friend for the evolved version of Charcadet from any version of the game that you don’t have. You can also ask a friend to give the armor set to a random Pokemon to keep and trade for that Pokemon. You can not join a co-op session with a friend playing the other versionbecause the NPC will always offer you the same evolution item as your version of the game.
