‘Marvel Contest of Champions’, ‘SP!NG’, ‘Injustice 2’, and more – TouchArcade

Hello everyone and welcome to the week! It’s time again to look back at the remarkable updates of the last seven days. It was the week before Christmas and throughout the App Store, many games were donning festive badges and more. Late Shaun tries to look his best, running behind because he was playing dragon quest. Alright, that’s all I can do. Here are some updates for your enjoyment. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on things you might have missed. Let’s go for that!

Jetpack rideFree I cover both Jetpack ride games today because they both have their own Christmas updates. I think that’s cool. The Christmas event in this one lets you collect flying Christmas balls to unlock Lady Yuletide, a Christmas pig (a bike, not a pig unfortunately), and Pile O’ gifts. Of course, the hallways are all adorned with, you know, holly branches and things. Things that look like Christmas. Festive fun for all!

Jetpack Joyride 2, And now we’re looking at the latest sequel update which, as you’d expect, also has a lot to do with the holidays. Well, really just one main thing: a Merry Santa skin for Barry to wear. Yes, I just did. Go with it. You also get a new Pompom jetpack that blows bubbles, a sticker album you can fill by collecting marbles, and a bunch of bug fixes and other improvements. Festive fun for Apple Arcade subscribers!

SP!NG, I’m not going to do my usual, extremely funny and charming thing, which is to gag the punctuation in the title of the game. Instead, I’m just going to encourage you, if you have Apple Arcade, to give this game a serious try. It’s really a lot of fun. This new update adds a theme inspired by the now defunct SMG Studio’s Apple Arcade game No coming home, eighteen new lost levels to play and a new One Life mode where you have a chance to see how far you can go. All very nice stuff, and I’m going to give this game the coveted UMMSotW prices for this week accordingly.

HERO, I haven’t covered this one before here because frankly I find its elusive title to be a dump. Are you a hero or are you not a hero? Hero-ish? What are you, Darkhawk? Yeah. But some people like it so I’ll kindly put it here for those people. There are new cards for all three factions in multiplayer, which should add some spice to the game. Existing cards have had a few changes which should allow for better and/or more interesting deck synergies, and multiplayer is now cross-platform. There are various other items here, but that’s the summary of the update from me.

The Oregon Trail,

The Oregon Trail? That’s old news, mate. Like, fifty-year-old news. The new hotness is the Chisholm Trail, which takes you on a post-Civil War journey of three cowboys leading their cattle along the Chisholm Trail. With this new update, you can explore this new trail and enjoy various other cowboy related additions to the game. There is also a new character class Cook who can cook food for you. A very big update for this game, and a dive into which it’s worth taking.

Goat Simulator+You see, the good thing about the Apple Arcade Goat Simulator+ is that the developers have a bunch of fun extensions that they can just roll out over time to keep people playing. This time the MMOs the extension has been added. Pick one of five different classes and complete a whole bunch of wacky quests to reach level one hundred or something. More ridiculous fun, provided you haven’t played with the wheels before. But even if you have goat simulator always seems to find fun new ways to break.

Subway surfers label, I don’t know, this one still seems to be trying to find its feet from where I’m sitting. This new update adds some new stuff and changes some things, and we’ll have to see if that’s enough to spark the joy. The Guard’s companion, Chien, now prowls as an enemy in all arenas. Defeat Dog and you’ll get Outfit Pieces, which can eventually be put together into Outfits, and we all love them. They hide our shame. Enemies will now spawn in waves, and if you can beat a wave before the next one spawns, you’ll get extra points. In addition, the batteries are exhausted, health is in place. You get three lives per run, and you can restore health by defeating certain enemies. Give it another chance and see how you do I guess.

Disney’s Magical Kingdoms, Free You know, honestly, I was expecting more Christmas-themed updates this week. Like, especially for things like Disney-related games. But no, here we are with a the hunchback of Notre-Dame de Paris in Magic Kingdoms, with Clopin’s Puppet Wagon, the Bells of Notre Dame, the Festival Cap and Bells Stand, the Festival Scepter Stand, and the Hunchback of Notre Dame Parade Float joining the game. Dive into this event and enjoy this time when Disney is went a little overboard for parents’ comfort by having the villain sing about how lusty he was. Hey, I’ve always loved this movie, even though no one else has.

Injustice 2Free There was a Batman story I read as a kid where Gordon encourages Batman to take a night off on Christmas and he’s worried about doing it because, well, criminality. But somehow he has a good night with Gordon and, thanks to the magic of Christmas, all the crimes stop or solve themselves. It always stuck with me and that’s how I associated Batman with Christmas. Weird. This update adds Robin King from the DC Dark Metal comics. He’s pretty naughty. There’s also a Winter Holiday login event where you can get goodies and a bunch of bug fixes.

Marvel Contest of ChampionsTo free

Contest of champions is kind of eight years old because time is driving us all crazy. But time doesn’t fool Mantis, the game’s newest playable character. guardians of the galaxy, so slip in and enjoy the exaggerated antics of the greatest heroes of the cosmos. It also works in some Christmas-themed things, but it also feels Guardians– bound this year due to this Disney Plus special. Anyway, Mantis! She is cute and funny and sometimes whistles. Take care.

That’s about it for the important updates for the past week. I’m sure I missed a few, so feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think anything should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely have their own news throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to recap and fill in the blanks. Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays everyone!
