new creature announced – PlayStation.Blog

Hello, I’m Rupert, Game Director of Saga of Sins. Me and my team at Bonus Level Entertainment are grateful and super excited to announce the 3rd playable creature from our new game today.

Saga of Sins: announcement of a new creature

But first, let me give you a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Saga of Sins.

Worthy of interest. Create something worthwhile. Something fresh and worth your time, the most valuable thing you – the player – can give us. This is our task as (independent) developers.

Thus was born the idea of a new sub-genre: the story-arcade!

Combining a meaningful story of inner conflict, twists and multiple endings with rewarding arcade-style gameplay. RPG elements, secrets, collectibles and a new approach to progression should further complement the experience, brought to life by a stained glass art style that fits the game’s setting. A game inspired by the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch ( 1450 -1516) whom I adore since childhood.

So there it is: in Saga of Sins, you play as righteous cleric Cecil – who can enter people’s minds by transforming into four unique demonic creatures such as a howling werewolf or fierce gargoyle – to battle the seven deadly sins and free his plague-infested village of Sinwell.

Each creature has individual skills and fire types that can be upgraded and once unlocked you can switch between them on the fly. Common to all of them is a devastating Power Dash.

Finally, the 3rd demonic creature we are announcing today is: the mighty Griffon!

This ancient demon stands for loyalty and trust, but it is all the more ruthless when it spots sinners with its piercing eyes. If not for this demonic creature’s appetite for human livers, our humble hero Cecil wouldn’t even feel so bad about having to transform into him by entering the minds of the 31 villagers of Sinwell.

Sinful Spirits are action levels and boss battles themed around one of the Seven Deadly Sins such as Wrath, Sloth, Envy, Lust, Greed, Pride, or Gluttony.

The innocent spirits, on the other hand, offer a variety of puzzles, riddles, or skill tests to spice up the whole experience. Enter the mind of a villager and be surprised at what you might find! We might even mess things up a bit…

The Griffin’s weapon is a ranged shot that can be upgraded – much like the Gargoyle’s flame blast or the Werewolf’s triple shot – by giving gold to the Madonna statues that are around Sinwell, the HUB area of the game so to speak.

Spread Fire can be upgraded from two to four projectiles at a time, making the Griffin super powerful for combat. So be sure to loot plenty of treasure chests – seven per level and some of them well hidden – and perform your Power Dash on multiple enemies at once, as it will cause them to drop twice as much gold!

The biggest advantage, however, comes with Griffin’s powerful wall hook. Only he can climb special walls covered with vines to reach new heights, discover secrets or outsmart enemies.

Of course, each demonic creature has its unique ability. The werewolf’s howl of revelation can shatter cracked glass to uncover hidden chests and the gargoyle’s flame breath can set certain objects on fire to clear the way or solve puzzles.

A cleric entering people’s minds in the form of demonic creatures. Does that sound humble to you?

Is Cecil doing the right thing or just following orders like he did during the crusades he left his village for? Doubts arise. Yet more and more disturbing things are starting to happen. Is Cecil just losing his faith…or even his mind?

We hope we got you a little excited today and find out the truth for yourself. We put our heart and passion into creating Saga of Sins and would be honored if you could lend us your time to play it.

Saga of Sins will launch digitally on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 and will support English (VO), French, Italian, German, Spanish, Dutch, as well as Spanish and Portuguese d ‘Latin America.
