New job postings suggest Valorant could be coming to consoles

Valorant has been a PC-exclusive multiplayer shooter since its launch in 2020. That’s not unusual for developer Riot Games, which currently only has games on PC or mobile platforms.

That said, it looks like all of that could change in the future, with Riot Games also exploring the possibility of bringing Valorant to console gamers.

Riot Games recently announced that it is making its games available for free with Xbox Game Pass, including Valorant.

Now, rumors have been swirling about it since the Xbox and Bethesda storefront back in June, when Riot Games announced that its games would all be available on Xbox Game Pass, with pre-unlocked Agent rosters for new players.

This partnership with Microsoft suggests that the future of Valorant could be on consoles. Just in October, a Valorant leaker shared a screenshot to Twitter suggesting that Riot Games added new icons for PlayStation and Xbox controls to game files.

As a leak, we have to take the information with a grain of salt. However, other developments suggest that Valorant’s migration to consoles is really underway. Just this morning, Riot Games shared two new job postings with Hitmarker. Both roles are for Valorant, with one listing for the Senior Game Designer role, Console, and another for the Lead Game Design role, Console.

Each list details role responsibilities, required qualifications, and a bit about Riot Games, as you’d expect. The first of the Game Design Lead’s responsibilities is: “Work with team leaders to develop a vision for combat in Valorant on consoles.” Meanwhile, a line in the Senior Game Designer role description reads, “Design and refine features, modes, and systems to help bring console game products to market.”

While this is by no means an official announcement, it does show that behind the scenes at Riot Games, the team is trying to bring their games to more platforms. It’s unclear when this will all come to fruition, but I suspect if it does, it’ll still be a while before we can run around using the controller’s aim assist to improve our chances of sniping. head.

What do you think of all this? Do you think Valorant should remain exclusive to PC, or do you want to see Riot’s games on consoles?

For more on Valorant, we recently took an in-depth look at whether we think Valorant skins are paid or not, and even tested whether the Secretlab 2022 Series Valorant Edition chair would fix our posture. This was not the case.
