by Unveiled during the runway presentation of Off-White™’s Fall 2022 ready-to-wear collection, POST ARCHIVE FACTION (PAF) has just released its highly anticipated collaboration with Off-White™. Designed by the late Virgil Abloh, the special partnership began in 2020 when Abloh teamed up with PAF to develop a collection that explores the terrain of today.
The duo explored performance apparel that represents an intersection between design and utility. Building on the invitation to create the “EQUIPMENT™” collection Off-White™ c/o POST ARCHIVE FACTION (PAF), multi-tool name Victorinox and outdoor specialist Helinox were also invited to explore the outlook of fashion and function.
Comprised of 12 pieces, the Off-White™ c/o POST ARCHIVE FACTION (PAF) “EQUIPMENT™” collection has developed functional and conceptual designs that explore the meaning and survival of humanity in the present day. Drawing inspiration from the birth of Western history through the Renaissance, early modernism, and present-day postmodernism, the fig leaves of Adam and Eve have been used as motifs representing human evolution.
The unique nature-focused design element adorns a bomber jacket, hoodie, long sleeve t-shirt, bucket hat, and backpack to form a ghillie suit-like camouflage. The design continues on the portable Sunset Chair and Table One by Helinox developed for the collection.
Made in Switzerland, PAF has reinterpreted the Victorinox Camper as a primitive stone tool. The Corian® case is marked with a graphic display representing the development of the knife from its origin as a stone tool and transforms the Victorinox logo. The included stainless steel tools express a shape of formed stones and serve as a large blade, small blade, wood saw, reamer, corkscrew, key ring, wire stripper, opener. bottle, screwdriver and can opener.
The Off-White™ c/o POST ARCHIVE FACTION (PAF) “EQUIPMENT™” collection is complemented by 3D-printed “Equipment Stones” that serve to reinforce the philosophical thrust of the collection.
Alongside this collaboration, POST ARCHIVE FACTION (PAF) has also developed a series of derivative products for Virgil Abloh’s “Figures of Speech” exhibition. Consisting of a t-shirt and a hat, the range draws on the fig leaf aesthetic with a contrasting black/white design.
