Manchester United legend Roy Keane has praised ‘absolutely amazing’ midfielder Jude Bellingham after his performance in England’s 6-2 win over Iran.
The 19-year-old was applauded from around the world after scoring his first senior international goal in the Three Lions’ comfortable win in their 2022 World Cup opener.
The Borussia Dortmund star gave Gareth Southgate’s side a dream start by converting Luke Shaw’s superb cross with a superb header into the top corner in the 35th minute of the match.

His goal made him the second-youngest England goalscorer at 19 years and 145 days, just behind Michael Owen, who scored twice in the 1998 World Cup aged 18.
Irishman Keane didn’t mince words as he praised the English youngster on ITV ahead of the 1-1 draw between the United States and Wales.
“Absolutely amazing, I think he’s brilliant now. Absolutely brilliant, he’s been keen to add more goals to his game at international level, he’s scoring at club level,’ Keane said.
“He plays with a maturity, he has everything you want in a midfielder in the middle of the park in terms of physique, maturity, decision-making, skill.”
Watching Bellingham’s goal, Keane compared him to great English names such as Bryan Robson, Paul Scholes, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard.

He added: “This finish here is fantastic. You remember all the brilliant English midfielders over the years, like Bryan Robson, Scholesy, Lampard and Gerrard.
“If you can add that to your game, that last bit of adding goals. Like I said, I think he’s a brilliant player anyway and he’s a brilliant goal.
“In his ensuing interview, he comes across as a very good boy, playing very mature. The kid has it all.
Keane’s remarks come after Rio Ferdinand and former England striker Alan Shearer also praised the youngster.
Shearer insisted playing in the Bundesliga helped him develop, saying: “It gave him great experience [playing regularly for Dortmund]allowing him to understand the game, to know the game and I think that has worked perfectly for him and his career,” Shearer said.

“It’s only a matter of time before he joins a big club like Real Madrid or Liverpool because that’s the talent you’re talking about.”
“First and foremost, to be England captain you have to perform well on the football pitch, but the way he carries himself, the way he speaks, it’s fantastic.”
Bellingham are set to leave Dortmund this summer with Manchester City, Real Madrid and Liverpool among a number of European giants interested in landing the Englishman.
