Solgaleo and Lunala are coming to Pokemon Go this week

Pokemon Go’s next major event, Astral Eclipse, begins this week on November 23, bringing the latest branching evolution from Cosmog to Solgaleo or Lunala. The event will see cosmic Pokémon appearing more often in the wild, as well as Ultra Beasts appearing in raids and research tasks, with the Ultra Beast Arrival event on November 27.

The Astral Eclipse event begins at 10:00 a.m. local trainer time on November 23 and ends on November 28 at 8:00 p.m., making it the last major event of the Season of Light. Once the event is over, Trainers who have collected 100 Cosmog Candies will be able to evolve their Cosmoem into Sunne Pokemon Solgaleo or Moone Pokemon Lunala.

Throughout the duration of the event, themed Pokémon will appear more often in the wild, including:

  • Alola Rattata
  • Alola Shrew
  • Clefairy
  • Alolan Vulpix
  • Staryu
  • hoohoot
  • Down
  • Lunatone
  • solrock
  • Munna
  • Cotonee
  • Petilil
  • Yungoos

Staryu can also be encountered when Field Research tasks are completed.

Drifloon, Frillish, Inkay, and Rockruff will appear in one-star raids, Tentacruel, Druddgion, and Hisuian Braviary in three-star raids, and Ultra Beast Nihilego will appear in five-star raids. Mega Houndoom will be available in Mega Raids for the duration of the event.

The Astral Eclipse event will also bring a small aesthetic change to the game’s map, with nebulous skies visible on the horizon and while catching Pokemon outside of AR mode.

The Ultra Beast Arrival event will also take place as part of Astral Eclipse, with an in-person event on November 26 in London and Los Angeles, and a global event on November 27. Players will be able to raid for various Ultra Beasts as part of the event, depending on where they are:

    • Xurkitree
    • Guzzlord
  • Europe:
    • Nihilego
    • Pheromosa
    • Guzzlord
  • Northern hemisphere:
  • Southern hemisphere:

Arrival of Ultra Beast: Global Timed Research will also be available, giving players the chance to encounter all of the Ultra Beasts listed above. Successfully winning a raid will also cause certain Pokémon to appear in greater numbers around the raid location, including:

  • machoke
  • Sickle
  • Magmar
  • gulpin
  • Absolute
  • Minccino (with an increased shine rate)
  • chilly
  • Denden

A few bonuses will be active during the global event, including 1.25x XP for Ultra Beast Raids, increased chance to get Rare Candy XL from raids, and up to five additional free Raid Passes from Gym Discs turning points during and up to two hours after the event.
