St George NRL stars run worst line-up in rugby union HISTORY as they train with NSW Waratahs

St George NRL stars run the worst line-up in rugby history as they train with the NSW Waratahs – just days after the Dragons stars fell out in a pre-season session

Dragons players are unlikely to be among the players in the league who have been offered big money to move to rugby union, with the team performing perhaps the worst outing ever in a joint training session with the NSW Waratahs.

Cult ‘Tahs striker Harry Johnson-Holmes filmed the fiendish attempt while watching the two sides go head-to-head at NSW’s new state-of-the-art Center of Excellence in Daceyville, just south of the CBD.

Instead of a commanding hooker throwing a perfect spiral at a towering second rower assisted several meters in the air, the St George players opted for a different approach.

Instead, a Dragon gently threw an underarm pass to a randomly lifted teammate about a foot off the ground, before their usual athleticism immediately returned to action as they moved the ball between a few plays of hands.

Johnson-Holmes lightly captioned the video: “The game they play in heaven [union]played by mungos [rugby league players]’.

Both teams also made an embarrassing scrimmage attempt in which almost all the players were on their feet, potentially in a bid to avoid injury during pre-season drills.

Waratahs skills coach Shannon Fraser, who also works with the Dragons, helped organize the session where one half was played with a 10m defensive line and the second was played with off-rules. union game behind the ruck.

St George’s line-up attempt comes just days after a controversial moment during a training session when two players came to blows.

The Dragons have had a somewhat unorthodox approach to pre-season trying a range of pitches, venues and approaches.

This includes fights, Zac Lomax and Junior Amone having to be separated from their team-mates during a mock match at the club’s three-day camp in Mollymook, around 200km south of Sydney.

The fight came when Lomax reacted to a heavy blow from Amone and the pair quickly put things right, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The club were expected to start their preparations for the 2023 season on the right note given the team’s disappointing 10th place finish this year.

Unfortunately, their off-season got off to a bad start in October, when only three players – Ben Hunt, Lomax and Michael Molo – attended the club’s end-of-year presentation party in Sydney.

The absence of the rest of the team gave rise to speculation that the group of players were unhappy, and it was rumored that a number of Dragons stars had been seen at the nearby Star City Casino on the same evening.

The Dragons hope that by the second round, 2023, when they face the Titans to open their campaign, the pre-season has improved and set them up for a big bounce-back year.
