Strictly Come Dancing announces the winners of the Christmas special

Come dance strictly crowned a new winner.

Six new celebrities took to the dance floor tonight as part of the Christmas Day Special, performing festive routines.

But it was coronation street star Alexandra Mardell who lifted the glittering ball to the Silver Star with her pro partner Kai Widdrington, after wowling the crowd with their Quickstep.

Their routine, on the Ronettes’ “Sleigh Ride,” earned them a perfect score of 40 points from the judges.

After all the couples performed, their judges’ scores were combined with the studio audience’s scores.

Speaking about her win, Mardell said: “I’m so shocked, I can’t thank you enough. I’m so happy about this, I did this for you. [Kai] so I can’t believe it.”

Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts also appeared on the show. She and her professional partner Giovanni Pernice earned 39 points for their waltz to Micheal Bublé’s “Silent Night.”

KISS FM DJ Rickie Haywood-Williams also performed. Paired with Luba Mushtuk, they performed a salsa to The Waitresses’ ‘Christmas Wrapping’ and scored 34.

The show also saw the return of former judge Bruno Tonioli. But rather than sit on the jury, he was performing instead.

Bruno sang a cover of ‘Don’t Leave Me This Way’ by Les Communards, accompanied by some professional dancers.

The celebrities then closed the show by once again gracing the ballroom, doing a group routine to The Beatles’ “All You Need” is Love.
