Strictly’s Kai Widdrington returns for final after illness

Come dance strictly Star Kai Widdrington returned to the show in time for the series finale after a bout of illness.

In keeping with tradition, all of the show’s contestants will return for one last group dance during tonight’s centerpiece, with the show’s official social media accounts sharing a teaser.

During the video, which showed all the couples together, fans noticed Kaye Adams strutting down the hall without his professional partner Kai, leading viewers to wonder if he would appear in the final.

Their fears were allayed, however, with Kai confirming that he “was a bit uneasy” in the show’s Instagram story. The video, which took place behind the scenes, saw the couple reunited, before they were amusingly run over by another contestant.

“Sorry, I just have to put on some Vicks [vapour rub] on his chest,” said Kaye, who was the first celebrity to be eliminated from the show. ” All my excuses. I haven’t been here. I’ve had a bit of a bad time this week – but we’re back together,” Kai said, before Kaye joked, “We’re back. The things I have to do!”

As they reunited, the pair were interrupted by comedian Ellie Taylor, who joked, “God! Sorry, I’m gonna leave you guys. Crikey!”

Tonight’s finale sees Hamza Yassin, Helen Skelton, Molly Rainford and Fleur East compete for the Glitterball Trophy, with each couple having to perform three dances (Judges’ Choice, Couples’ Choice and a Dance Show).

The bottom four prevailed in last week’s semi-final, which saw Will Mellor and Nancy Xu lose in the final dance of the series.

“Where to start~ well, even though it still hurts, I’m still super grateful for this journey. And super proud for all the dances we’ve performed on Come dance strictly this year,” Nancy wrote after they left. “The memories we made on this trip go way beyond anything.”

Come dance strictlyThe final show will air on Saturday 17 December at 7:05 p.m. on BBC One, while the spin-off show Strictly: it takes two aired weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are also streaming on BBC iPlayer.
