Publisher and developer Upwake.me has announced Hawked, a new extraction shooter.

The new title is coming to consoles and PC soon, and the closed alpha test will begin on November 24 for PC gamers on Steam. From now on, players can take a first look at the Hunt mode, playable solo or in teams of three.

Upwake.me – which has offices in Amsterdam, Limassol and Dubai – said Hawked is an online shooter in which teams or solo players race to collect and extract treasure from a remote island. It is a player versus player versus environment game. Extraction games are all the rage, with titles like Escape From Tarkov, Call of Duty: Warzone 2’s DMZ mode, and Shrapnel.

Players must explore a mysterious island, clashing and battling greedy Saurian Disciples in a quest for mystical treasures and artifacts. But it’s not just the monsters they’ll have to worry about. Other players are also looking for their treasure. Players will also face puzzles and traps, dangerous environments, and a variety of other challenges along the way.

The title will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.

For Closed Alpha, the main game mode will be Hunt where players will roam the island in search of artifacts. However, Artifacts aren’t just for scoring points, they’re usable items that provide in-game benefits that, once a player has mined them, belong to them for future games.

Hawked will have a closed alpha test from November 24-28.

During the game, you have several ways to obtain artifacts. They can be looted from defeated players but also through PvE encounters such as a Glyph encounter. During these encounters, a player can secure four glyphs with which they can open the safe which contains several artifacts. The player with the most artifacts will be the big winner, but the developer wants mining a single artifact to also be rewarding enough that any player feels they can achieve something worthwhile in every playthrough.

In the world of Hawked, the adventurers’ guild Grail recently made the discovery of a life: X-Isle, a mysterious island that houses powerful artifacts of a lost civilization. However, Grail’s attempts to extract the artifacts fail when the island’s monstrous inhabitants attack.

This is where the Renegades come in. They are mercenary treasure hunters with a penchant for looting. As Renegades, players will have access to a large collection of weapons and gadgets, battle vicious monsters, outwit enemies, and kill each other while roaming the island. Players will run, jump, surf, zipline, and fly through an ever-changing world filled with deadly dangers, lush jungles, and ancient ruins.

Players must solve puzzles and dodge traps to steal treasures, extract them, and escape the island. Gathered riches can be used to upgrade gear and abilities, and players can extensively modify their Renegade with customizable loadouts and abilities. Wield new weapons and gear like katanas and grappling hooks to specialize in stealth, defense, or high-speed looting.

Hawked’s closed alpha test will be playable November 24-28 on Steam. Alpha players will test out the Hunt mode of the game, more information on closed alpha participation can be found on the official website. The developers said they are looking forward to gathering feedback during this training period for the game. Feedback from testers will be important for future development and in refining the vision to create a fast-paced kinetic extraction shooter.
